Clementine

We read Clementine by Sara Pennypacker. The main character is Clementine. She is an annoying troublemaker. She is l-i-v-e-l-y, lively! She does whatever makes sense to here, even if it isn't the "normal" thing to do.

Clementine's friend Margaret cuts off some of her own hair. Clementine helps her cut off the rest and then she helps Margaret by coloring red curls on her head with marker. Then Clementine cuts her own hair and Margaret draws on it with green marker.

There is also the Great Pigeon War that her and her dad are fighting. There are too many pigeons pooping on the sidewalk in front of their apartment building. She finds out that Mrs. Jacobi has been feeding them at the front window so Clementine tells her to feed them at the side window and then they don't have a problem anymore because the pigeons aren't in front of the building anymore.

Clementine is worried that her parents are going to get rid of her because she is the troublemaker and she thinks they don't like the fact that she always gets into trouble. She thinks they only want her brother - the easy one. Her parents actually don't want to get rid of her. They plan a party to celebrate the end of the Great Pigeon war and to thank her for solving that problem.

Even though Clementine does have hard days and makes messes and causes some problems her parents do love her and they want to keep her!

Kent: I recommend that I don't like this book.
Evan: I recommend that I do like it.
Taft: This is a terrible book.
Joel: I like it. I want to read the next one.
Alyssa: I l-o-v-e, LOVE, it!

Despite some of the reviews saying they don't like it - everyone kept asking me to "keep reading" "keep reading" "keep reading" "keep reading" "keep reading" "keep reading" "keep reading" "keep reading"!
